One of the visual tools included in the Principles of Applied Arts curriculum is the craftsman’s wheel. This chart displays a general summary of professional decorative painting process. Made directly from an example of a professional practice, the Craftsman’s Wheel provides a visual guide for program directors, teachers, and students to see success. When first starting out in a business, students’ first few turns may real that their practice is not yet round or refined. The PAA Program focuses on learning information that adds sides to a student’s personal wheel, making it rounder every time a student attends a class or works in the field. Instructors use many tools that keep both students and teachers engaged, creating solid, productive conversations.
